Zelazny's Amber books, the template reality and parallel universes

Post by spacetribe » Wed Aug 02, 2017 6:03 am

Since discovering the Amber universe more than 30 years ago I was always fascinated by the act of shifting to a universe of your choice, where every possible universe exists somewhere in the continuum. And this of course reverberates with Bashar's teaching.

What struck me as I was listening to one of the old workshops a few weeks ago, it was some event from 2006 I think, is that Bashar mentions there that in the template reality "All the structures are there... but it's empty". This sheds beautiful insight into the Amber universe vision, as the "real" Amber is indeed empty and that is the place whose projection creates reality.

I love that you brought this up! I hadn't heard of this book series but read through the wiki and this seems to resonate so strongly with me it's crazy! I need to start reading these series :)

It's considered one of the absolute best fantasy book series ever written, and is made of two series of 5 books each - the first 5 are where the classic Amber world really comes to life, the rest are for rabid fans :)

Since the books are so short I have read the first one many, many times. It is for me the same as comfort food, something to do in a day when I need a pick-me-up in a single sitting. So it came somewhat as a surprise for me realizing in recent years that the spiritual essence with which they are infused is so valid. They read as very good fantasy action lit. Enjoy!

Missed this thread previously!
Did a search, it is a bit confusing. Which book should I start with? There are so many.

Local library has it, I placed a hold request to check it out. My preference is usually for shorter books--like Alice in Wonderland ;) If it does grab me then I would order my own. We shall see!
